The Christian Formation Classes are a great place for our parishioners and newcomers to gather on Sunday morning. As each class community gathers, you will experience a deeper understanding of your own faith, fellowship with one another, and a caring place to express your views and questions. Christian Formation classes are also a wonderful place to make friends and deepen existing relationships within the parish. Please review the list below to identify your class and its location. If you need additional information or have questions, please see or call Harper Lewis, Director of Youth Ministry and Christian Education, or The Rev. Donna-Mae Siderius at 722-2567.
Journey to Adulthood is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for 6th - 12th grades. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core principles:
Grades 6-7, upstairs, Sunday School wing
Rite-13 is entering its first year of its two-year segment of the Journey to Adulthood. Young teens explore life issues; their relationships with each other, their families, their mentors, and God. This year they will experience The Celebration of Manhood and Womanhood which is a rite of passage at age 13 and is celebrated within the church family. All activities are focused on building our youth community, establishing trust and safety, and reminding our youth that this is their church and that they are safe and welcomed within it.
Grades 8-9, bell tower
J2A is entering its first year of its two-year segment of the Journey to Adulthood. This is the period in which our youth explore the issues of self, society, sexuality, and spirituality within their faith community. They learn the skills of active listening, negotiation, assertion, research and information management, partnership, and leadership as they journey toward adulthood. The two years culminate with a religious pilgrimage scheduled for the summer of 2011.
Grades 10-12, bell tower
Young Adults in the Church (YAC) is the third segment of the Journey to Adulthood. It encourages the older youth after their pilgrimage to begin to take on adult responsibilities in all aspects of parish life and the community. They are challenged to become good stewards of their time, talent, and treasure, and to continue on the lifelong pilgrimage of their faith. This includes discussions of social and religious topics of interest to older teens and preparation for Confirmation.
Grades 6-12
, Parish House or offsiteAll youth in grades six through twelve are invited to participate in the Episcopal Youth Community.
